Dr Hazel Carrick

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist with more than 10 years working in the mental health field.

I completed a Psychology undergraduate degree at University College Dublin (2010). I then moved to the UK to complete a Masters in Mental Health Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, London (2011) and went on to obtain my Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Bath (2016).

I have more than a decade of experience working in both the NHS in the UK and the HSE in Ireland, as well as running my private practice. I have a wide range of experience working in community and inpatient mental health services and medical settings.

A common thread throughout my career has been supporting people at times of significant distress and adjustment. I have developed an expertise in therapy for people who have experienced trauma in their recent and distant past. From my time working in the NHS & HSE, I also developed specialist interests in staff wellbeing and difficulties related to fertility, pregnancy and early parenthood.

I have an integrative therapeutic approach, applying a range of evidence-based models: Cognitive-Behavioural, Systemic & Narrative, Psychodynamic and Attachment. I have undertaken further specialist training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy. Mindfulness and Schema therapy.

I am based in Co. Dublin, Ireland and am insured to provide online therapy to clients in Ireland, UK and EU.

I am registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), The British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
